Internal doors going in

Our site supervisor called again to check a few things with us and also let us know the next few steps going on for this week and next. The internal doors and architraves started to go on today.

(Coat Closet)

(Craft Room (Bedroom 2) into Dining Room)

(We have Pantry Doors!!)

(Pantry Doors again... they're so beautiful)

We've been told this should be finished tomorrow. I'm thinking/guessing that means the skirting too. Will post again as more stuff happens!

  1. Your doors look great - I really like the pantry ones! I went standard doors (by accident! I forgot all about the internal doors. Maybe I'll save up and replace in a few years) Any word on when your completion date would be? You are really only about 3 weeks behind me. Also, what wall colour did you choose? The Riant

  2. Thanks. I thought to upgrade the pantry doors because the design of the house pretty much has the kitchen as a feature in the entertaining area.

Our site supervisor mentioned handover will be about 8 weeks from Tiling but I'm not actually sure when the tiling will be done. I'm also not sure if he meant Tiling of the Wet area's or once all the carpets and floating floors are down?

We have gone for a slightly Creamy Colour for the walls and Skirting (I think). I kinda wanted an off white cosy feel to the house. We didn't choose any feature walls so we will most likely do them as we move in. I'm hoping it all matches as I've only seen samples of them all together (Tiling, floating floors, doors, walls, carpets), so I'm not too sure.

What about your colours? Are your power points in yet or do they go on later? I noticed they have cut out all the points for the light switches and power points in our plaster. I'm guessing they paint first but thought I'd check what they done with you?

    1. I went for off White which thankfully isn't too yellow! Pretty sure painting inside has finished but I haven't been in since the first roll to know of any touch ups. From the outside it all looks pretty good. Did I mention the painter did three coats for me instead of the standard 2? He did this on his own accord and hopefully the builder doesn't pass on the cost to me! Yes my electrical was roughed in before painting and I guess they do the fit out with the plumbing. My supervisor told me completion takes 4 weeks after painting but I don't know if this includes tiling? I'm wondering by you're information that all the end bits like inspections etc take 4 weeks??? That's a long time to wait!! The Riant

    2. 3 Coats of paint is Nice. I think we are only getting the standard 2 so you got a nice bonus!

I'm hoping it's 8 weeks from Tiling the Wet area's (Which I really hope is soon... like this week) as I've worked out that the rest of the flooring goes in after the painting which will be quite some time if it's 8 weeks from then.

I've heard that once the house is completed, it still takes a bit of time as the council need to inspect as well as the bank, and the certificate of occupancy needs to be issued, which I think takes the longest. I'm really hoping our Tiling goes in soon so I kinda know a rough date as we have about 7 - 8 weeks from then...

I think the builder means you'll be at handover in 4 weeks... very exciting. But then, I might be wrong and he means the house will be finished in 4 weeks, plus then however long for the occupancy certificate.

Either way, sounds like you'll be in Mid - Late March which in the grand scheme of things is just around the corner.
