Shelving and splash back

When I got to the house today the front door and Garage door were open so I was able to do a walk through. I was very pleased to see the shelving had all gone in and the splash back in the kitchen was up.

Pretty much all of the shelving/railing had been installed throughout the house. We also get our water tank put into place (not plumed in yet).

I was actually considering not going to the house this week at all but my schedule has me down that way every night so I think I may as well just call in to check on the progress. Not much to be done now at all but every little bit counts!

  1. Hi Stephen,
Coming along very nicely (and fast!) Next time you have a chance could you take a photo of the inside of the overhead cupboards, Im interested to see how the bench downlights are mounted...They look very effective.
Your colour selections are very similar to mine - I have painted afew feature walls and rooms. If you can whim me I'll send thru afew pics.

    1. Hi Marc,

It's been very fast for our entire build. Can't wait for our inspection on Friday. I do love the downlights... they give off a really nice atmosphere. I'll take some close up photo's for you on Friday if I remember. I have noticed however that the housing for the downlights are huge, taking up a good chunk of the cupboards... I would have expected them to be about 1/4th the size... I'm not sure why it was designed like that as it looks a little strange, so I may have it fixed in the future... then again, I may not even bother as they're hidden inside the cupboards.

By any chance, did you have contact with your Site Supervisor recently? Our guy mentioned he just did some inspection or visit or something at another Memphis and I swear he mentioned your name. I might be mistaken but thought it would be funny if it was yours.

Would love to see your selections and Especially what you did with the feature walls. I couldn't access anything in your profile to send you a message but I just enabled messaging on my profile if that works??

    1. Thanks a Heap!!! Yes it has been very good quality so I am hoping for smooth sailing. There's a handful of little things I've noticed but in all honesty, they are so minor it should only take them a couple hours in a day to fix up... unless we find something major which by all accounts, there is nothing.

I believe they're having their own inspection also today (Before ours) which will approve the Certificate for me to give to the bank to arrange final payment so here's hoping that all goes through quickly. The sooner we get it to the bank, the sooner they can arrange their inspection so they can then provide the bank cheque for Final payment (Yay).

  3. Hi Stephen,
Have you had your final inspection yet. I am envious. We are building with them, but it seems to be taking forever. Our supervisor occasionally rings us with updates. Painting was supposed to have been finished this week, and as yet, Thursday, no painters in sight. I am becoming frustrated at his delays. I hope your settlement goes through ok.

    1. Hi Dorothy,

We haven't had our final inspection yet as we are waiting on the bank to do their inspection and then release the bank cheque. Shouldn't be long now as I just received a call from our site supervisor letting me know the banks inspection is tomorrow.

It's a shame your SS only calls occasionally, and it sucks about your paint not even started yet. It must be an area thing as the houses on either side of me will be finishing within the next couple weeks too... and they are both building through different companies.

I've been hanging back from posting as I am wanting to do a final post of handover (Before I continue the blog with the improvements I make over time - there's so much to do after handover so I'll be posting for many years to come I think). I think I'll post a brief update for others now though.

Hopefully your build improves. How have you found the quality so far? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what area are you building?
