Network cabling installed

I let the network guru know the roof was on and that the network cabling would need to be installed fairly soon so there is no hold up with the rest of the work. Anyway, the cabling was all installed today so it's nice to know that's another thing done!

That's a lot of cabling. At least the house will be compleatly wired for our home media server and entertainment hub. No need to worry about wireless dropouts or interferences. Solid, gigabit networking is Sooo much nicer. 

It's getting there!

Quite a bit has been done today! The brickwork is beginning to look really good and I was very pleased to see they started on the front!!!  They also installed the temp doors so it looks like we'll be locked out very soon, if not from now on. 

It was also exciting and a surprise to see pretty much all the electrical cabling run through. It looks like the plaster is almost ready to start going on. 

They even managed to box the bathtub and prep for the data box in the garage. Shouldn't be too long now for the brickwork to be completed too. Lockup, here we come!

Heating going in

The heater was getting installed today. Most of the tubes are in the roof and the return intake in its place.

Some more brickwork had been done to the side of the house but not a huge amount. And either our doors, or temporary doors have been delivered. 

I'm really looking forward to lock up, but also not looking forward to it. I know once we get to that stage, things will seem to slow down because we won't be able to go around and check everything out, apart from peaking in through the windows or getting the updates from our Site Supivisor. 

Brickworks Underway

I didn't think I'd be posting anything today but the good news is they've started on our brickwork!! Only 2 small sections have started but still fantastic to see.

Capping on, whirlybird installed!

It seems as though they managed to finish the roofing today. The rest of the panels were up and capping on, and they even installed my own little whirlybird... just for me! (Well not really for me, for the release of the heat in the roof - for those of you that might not know what they are for). They've left the railing up though so I'm not sure if that means they will be back tomorrow to finalise anything or if someone else is supposed to come to collect it.

I've also Booked a time for the home network cabling to be installed. We've ordered 3 Boxes of Cat6 Network Cable... over 900 Meters! Yikes! The Network Guru has estimated approx. 750 meters but I wouldn't mind having some leftovers. 750 meters you say?? yes I know, a bit of an overkill but I would like to have a fully networked house and besides, hardwired is always more stable then wireless. Mind you, I will also have wireless for everything else.

It's also another 40+ day tomorrow. In fact Thursday and Friday are too for that matter.  I'm really hoping this heatwave doesn't delay anything too much. I will most likely be out there again tomorrow but not really sure if anything would be getting done at all.  If there is, I'll be sure to post about it.

Roofing underway

Glad to see the roof has been started. I would say they have installed about 80% of it. Looking forward to checking it out tomorrow to see it completed (Hopefully), with all the capping on and what not.

As you can see from the above photos, we also have sarking and bats in with the roofing. This will help prevent leaks, and should help greatly with keeping the house cooler during summer, being a darker colourbond roof and all. 

Our bricks were also delivered so here's hoping they start laying them soon too. 

It was great to go out there today and have the roof overhead. It made everything feel completly different. It's also a 40+ Degree day tomorrow so I hope the crew don't rush the job to get out of the heat. I am sure to post again tomorrow, so long as I make it out there. 

Building wrap and flashing on!

We weren't expecting anything to be done to the house as the workers are back on Monday from holidays, but still went around today as we were in the area. It was nice to see there has been extra work done.

The house has been wrapped with the building paper and flashing all laid out. The railings are also up so it looks as though it's all ready for the roofing and brickwork to start. 

It's almost compleatly enclosed now. If they put the front and garage doors on it would be. I mean apart from climbing in through the open roof or ripping through the builders paper of course. Can't wait to go back during the week to see the roof on and the brickwork going up!
